I'm sure if you are my friend on Facebook that you've already seen the transformation of my master bedroom and bath.
I posted a before and after of it but I didn't share the details of everything I did. I'm going to attempt some coherent sounding posts with possible tutorials on some of my projects...if not actual tutorials than at least some crappy pictures of the process so that you'll get the idea of what I did.
Here's a before of the bedroom.
Huh. Know what? I've documented a lot of my crafting crap. I guess I didn't realize that I'd done that much!

Here's a before of the bedroom.
i actually did a post on those silly brown oblong pillows once. and this is where i did a tutorial on how to create inexpensive and adorable (in my opinion) silhouettes.
big boy thinks he's a studly photo bomber.
What you don't see is at the foot of the bed is usually where my hope chest sits. It's made to look like cedar and is actually cedar lined, but the outside is total crap. I mean, total "came in a box and had to be put together" stuff. Not solid wood. The TV armoire is also not solid wood.
Oh. And neither are the night stands. Or the book case. Wow. That's sort of embarrassing. Oh well.
I guess today I'll just show you the first step in the process...paint. I wanted to change it up. My bedroom has been done in shades of green since 2000. I'm kind of tired of green after 12 years. I've done some changes to try to liven it up before and had some awesome (sorta) before and afters until Google+ deleted all of my pictures, but I've outlined the changes in this post with a picture.
I wanted something peaceful, calm, relaxing, not real bold, but comfortable, easily adaptable to different color combos and zen.
That shouldn't be too hard, right? **rolls eyes**
Actually, I already had an idea of what I wanted the color palette to be, so it wasn't super hard I guess. I also scoured Pinterest for weeks before I even knew if I was going to take the project on or not for ideas in case I did do it.
Eventually I chose a nice gray paint that has a blue base called Stormy Day.
Here are the first few pictures of painting in progress. My husband did all of the taping and painting for me. He also painted our master bathroom because I wanted them to match and be done at the same time.
My next renovation post will tackle the formidable job of painting furniture. Painting press board furniture, to be exact.
If you don't remember my previous forays into the dreaded task of painting any furniture, look here, here and here.

grey is so hot now...and it is easy to see why!!! a lovely choice..have fun!!!
I love your wall color!! and the finished product :)
I have photo bombers all over the place. haha
I want to overhaul Little Middle's room. One day. It needs to be clean first! HA.
For now I will live vicariously through you. ;)
You just gave me the idea to paint a piece of furniture! I need the details!!
Grey was a really good choice! Picking paint colors is always my downfall in a remodel, but you nailed it! I can't wait to see the fully finished room...and how you managed to paint pressed wood furniture. That is what we have in our bedroom, too. Luckily the finish still looks good because it's only 7 years old, but one water glass spill and a pretty nightstand can be turned into a warped disaster with that kind of "wood"!
Looking good! Redoing a bedroom is such a huge task. We started ours and never finished it - and we have to move out in less than a year!
Love all your tutorials.
Sorry I've been absentee. I'm trying to get back into the swing of thigns now. I've missed you!
You are awesome! I love seeing all of your "re-do's"!
Great paint color. What an awesome husband you have for doing all the painting. :) Can't wait to read about all the fun you had repainting the furniture.
I love the gray with a little bit of blue mixed in! That's exactly the look I went for when we painted our bedroom this summer...I wanted something with a "zen" feeling to it and went with a shade a little darker than sky blue.
Great so far!!! So where was everything else stashed in the house while you were going about this? Tripping over things elsewhere?
ohh i love that paint color!
I do like that color- very peaceful
Looks like you have a good start on the zen in your bedroom.
Nice! It feels so good to freshen up a space.
